Scouting Reports

What the Scouts Are Saying

"Among the most physically impressive 2028 prospects at The Club Invitational was Mecucci, a Mission Hills (CA) right-handed hitter. And he didn't just look the part. He mashed. Of his nine hits, seven went for extra-bases, including two no-doubt homers. The ball sounds different coming off his bat"

Five Tool Ca · 2026

"Micah Mecucci (2028, San Marcos, CA) went 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple on Thursday. He stays short and smooth when he swings and lets his raw power do the work, generating most of it through his powerful, stable lower side. Power-hitting outfielders are out there at this event, but the way the ball came off Mecucci’s bat stood out from others. He’s a guy that I’ll keep an eye on the rest of this summer, as right now he's not ranked in the top 100 for his class, but easily could be come August."

"Mecucci has made significant physical strides since his freshman season, and the development is easy to see. Now standing 6-0, 195 pounds, Mecucci has added considerable strength and mass to his frame, giving him a much more physical look than a year ago. He turned in a strong workout, posting a 6.94 60-yard dash and a 103.4 mph max exit velocity, one of the top marks at the event. He averaged 90.3 mph exit velocity with a 384-foot max batted distance, backing up similarly with a level swing path that produced consistent impact. The bat speed also stood out, averaging 77.8 mph and peaking at 82.8 mph, showing the strength and explosiveness he has added.Defensively, Mecucci projects as a center field or right field profile, with his long-term home likely depending on how the range and arm strength continue to develop over the next couple of years. While he didn't have his best game against live pitching at this event, the workout performance reinforced the progress he has made.More importantly, our staff saw Mecucci perform well throughout the spring, as he returned from injury in late March and went on to hit .387 with seven home runs, proving the offensive tools translate in game action. The physical gains, improving tools, and spring production all point toward a player whose development continues to trend upward."

Vinnie Alfino / prep baseball report · 2026

"Mecucci had an extremely loud performance going 3-5 with 2 homers, a double, and 4 RBIs. The sophomore has a physical frame at 6 '1, 190lbs and immediately catches your eye. After flying out to CF and popping up to the catcher in his first two at-bats, Mecucci capitalized for the rest of the day. In his 3rd at-bat, he lifted a ball to deep CF that easily cleared the fence. He stayed through a fastball and caught the ball out in front and just backspun the ball over the fence. The ball jumped off his bat. In his next AB he hit a line drive to left-center that cleared the wall by a solid 10 feet. The RHH has quick and clean motions. He has a slight toe-tap, but is direct to the ball and moves extremely well and mature for his age. His swing allows him to stay inside the ball and make contact with the ball when his bat is at top speed. In his 6th game since returning from injury, Mecucci now has 4 home runs and a whopping .560/ 1.150/ 1.710 slash line that should be getting everyone’s attention. Mecucci is a name to watch out for as the season comes to a close. His physical nature, smooth swing, and quick hands make him a player with major upside heading into the summer."

"Micah Mecucci is a 2028 OF/3B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from San Marcos, CA who attends Mission Hills. Big and strong build. Right handed hitter, sets up in a straight and balanced base, simple and repeatable rock back load and trigger, has fast hands and lots of lift in his swing, easy bat speed and carry, big power for his age and gets to it effortlessly, impressive offensive tools and projection. 6.75 runner in the sixty. Primary outfielder on defense, step by step actions through the ball, stays low fielding, longer arm path with some young carry on his throws. Good student."
